OCLIS Membership
Membership in OCLIS is open to any Ohio library or information service organization or chapters of national organizations which are located within the state of Ohio.
Purpose of OCLIS
- To foster cooperation among and understanding of the OCLIS organizations
- Facilitate communication among the various constituencies
- Create awareness of the concerns, needs, and capabilities of the library and information science communities among legislators, governmental officials, and the general public at the local, state, and national levels.
- Provide a forum to discuss common issues and concerns;
- Encourage and publicize continuing education programs in library and information science held throughout the state
Goals
- Identify ways to inform librarians in the state about what OCLIS is and who the OCLIS members are.
- Investigate ways to use electronic communications for OCLIS activities and promotion.
- Propose cooperative activities to promote OCLIS, information societies, librarianship and libraries.
- Develop a shared mission statement for all OCLIS members which calls for equity of access to information for all Ohio residents.
